  • I was born at 14.Iyar.5735 (24.4.1975 CE) in Israel, Haifa, Qiriat Haim. I am married and currently live in Hod Hasharon.

  • I am an autodidact and study all the time, but I also have some formal diplomas:

Work experience

  • I develop software since the age of 7, but I also have some industry experience:
  • 1997 (0.5 year): During my B.Sc. studies I worked in Rafael on design and simulation of an optimization algorithm .
  • 1998 - 2004 (5.5 years): During my army service, I worked on improvement, development and testing of statistical and real-time algorithms .
  • 2000 - today: Developed and maintained my web sites, mainly the Tanakh navigation site. It includes thousand of classified articles related to Hebrew Bible and its meaning to our current times, wysiwyg content management system, user generated content, and an online multiplayer game (see below).
  • 2006 - 2007: Freelance projects for several companies, including VIPIsrael (content management system), Meorot Chabad (student management system) and Adorama (customer analysis system).
  • 2007 - 2010: co-founded and worked at Tros Interactive, a startup company that develops trust-based social dating sites . I participated in developing an algorithm for trust calculation and path finding in the social network, and in building, maintaining and deploying dating sites that use the algorithm (two of them are Meezoog and PirateDate).
  • 2007 - today: An operator, and later a beurocrat, in Hebrew Wikisource, where I developed many templates, bots, scripts and styles . I participated in planning and building the infra-structure of the entire site .
  • 2009-today: I developed Textia - a multiplayer online educational game, written in a game-language I invented . AFAIK, this is the first wiki-game in the world - the first game that can be edited by users, just like the articles in Wikipedia. The game currently runs on my site.
  • 2010:  I published my first book - a thorough research about the book of Proverbs - at the lulu site: http://stores.lulu.com/erel. The book is based on articles from my website, which I collected and organized using a PHP script I wrote.

Educational Experience

  • 1994-2006: Member of the Bible Youth Organization in Israel (" Nachat "), in which I gave several lectures about BIblical subjects, and also participated in organizing several Bible quiz preparation camps for Jewish youth.
  • 1998-1999: Teaching assistant in the Technion, faculty of computer science, Discrete Math course.
  • 2003: Volunteer in "Tzeva", an organization that voluntarily helps elementary-school kids with their studies - arithmetic and language studies.
  • 2005-2006: Lectures in computer scinece for high-school students; see presentations here (Hebrew).

Programming languages and techniques

  • I currently develop mainly in PHP (over 5 years of experience) Perl and Javascript (over 7 years of experience). The sites I developed for Tros Interactive (such as Meezoog) are written in those languages.
  • The data in my Hebrew sites (i. e. http://tora.us.fm/tryg , http://tora.us.fm/tnk1 ) is organized using Microsoft Access + SQL , Visual Basic and PHP (about 5 years of experience).
  • During my army service I wrote in C++ . Maltab and Visual Basic (5.5 years of experience).
  • I wrote the software for my M.Sc. thesis in C++ and Java 1.0 (2 more years of experience).
  • I wrote an adventure game in Microworlds - Logo (0.5 years of experience).
  • I wrote many templates in the MediaWiki language for the Wikisource site I volunteer at.
