The Psalmist wrote: נפשנו-- כצפור נמלטה, מפח יוקשים - “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers” (Ps 124:7).

In the Book of Kings we read:
ומכף מלך-אשור אצילך ואת העיר הזאת; וגנותי על-העיר הזאת - “and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city” (2 Ki 20:6; Is 38:6).

Now we read in the Book of Isaiah:
כצפרים עפות--כן יגן יהוה צבאות על-ירושלם; גנון והציל, פסח והמליט.
“As birds hovering, so will YHWH of hosts protect Jerusalem; He will deliver it as He protects it, He will rescue it as He passes over” (Is 31:5).

The English translation of פסח (pasoakh) as “passes over” here assumes that God will be to Jerusalem as “flying birds” but even with this understanding the verb פסח (pasoakh) here is artificial. The Greeks omitted this word from the translation. However, if this word had been misspelled and mis-located in this verse, then the authentic version could have been:
כצפרים עפות מפח -כן יגן יהוה צבאות על-ירושלם; גנון והציל, והמליט - “As birds fly away from the snare, so YHWH of hosts will protect Jerusalem, protect, deliver, and rescue.”
