In the Book of Kings we read:
וטמא את התפת, אשר בגי בני)בן (הנם: לבלתי להעביר איש את בנו ואת בתו באש - - - - - - - --
למלך.
“And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech” (2 Ki 23:10; see also Jer 32:35).
Yet in the Book of Leviticus we find:
ומזרעך לא תתן להעביר למלך; ולא תחלל את שם אלהיך, אני יהוה. - -
“And you shall not give any of your seed to set them apart to Molech, neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am YHWH” (Lev 18:21).
However, the comparison between these verses suggests that ומזרעך לא תתן להעביר למלך -
(umizara’cha lo thithen lehaa’vir lamolech) is a deletion error of: ומזרעך לא תתן להעביר באש למלך - (umizara’cha lo thithen lehaa’vir baesh lamolech) - “And you shall not give any of your seed to pass through the fire to Molech.”
In the Book of Numbers we read:
ויקרא את שם המקום ההוא, קברות התאוה: כי שם קברו את העם המתאוים. - - - -
“And the name of that place was called Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people that lusted” (Num 11:34; see also: Gen 11:9; 21:31; 35:7).
Yet earlier in the same chapter we find:
ויקרא שם המקום ההוא, תבערה: כי בערה בם אש יהוה. - -
“And the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of YHWH burnt among them” (Num 11:3).
However, the comparison between these verses suggests that כי בערה - (ki-baa’rah) is a deletion error of כי שם בערה - (ki-sham baa’rah) - “because there burnt.”
In the Book of Samuel we read:
ויצו אבשלום את נעריו לאמר, ראו נא כטוב לב אמנון ביין ואמרתי אליכם הכו את אמנון - - -
והמתם אתו - -אל תיראו: - --
“And Absalom commanded his servants, saying: Mark you now, when Amnon's heart is merry with wine; and when I say to you: Smite Amnon, then kill him, fear not” (2 Sam 13:28; see also Est 1:10).
Yet in the Book of Judges we find:
ויהי כי טוב)כטוב(לבם ויאמרו, קראו לשמשון וישחק לנו; -
“And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said: Call for Samson, that he may make us sport” (Jud 16:25). However, the comparison between these verses suggests that ויהי כי טוב)כטוב(לבם (vayehi ketov libam) is a deletion error of: ביין ויהי כי טוב)כטוב(לבם (vayehi ketov libam bayaiin) - “and when their hearts became merry with wine
